It Takes Time was recorded in three sessions in Seinäjoki. The first two took place in November 2005 and April 2006 respectively and were recorded by Jarkko Salo. The third session in May 2006 was recorded by Urkki Niemi. 'Losing Hand' was recorded in April 2005 by Jarkko Salo. 'Spann's Stomp' was recorded in Oulu in May 2006 by Markku Perälä. The whole enchilada was mixed by Sami Jormanainen, Matti Loppela and Miikka Kivimäki in Seinäjoki and mastered by Sami Jormanainen. We recorded at an old school gym and were after a big sound as found on e.g. Muddy Waters' Hard Again.

Bluestone believe in the blues being a feeling that has to be captured there and then so consequently there are no overdubs on the CD. It's studio live all the way. A dodgy take was simply redone. Quite many of the featured songs were also late arrivals in our repertoire. The upshot was the musicians had something fresh to add to the equation. Our goal was to capture an inspired take, not necessarily the technically perfect take. Little blemishes were not ironed out as life itself never presents itself as unblemished. It Takes Time should be enjoyed as Bluestone's take on what we see as the essence of the blues: conveying a feeling at that moment and being there for the listener.
